some news, and a meme
I dunno the results from the FIRST FRC challenge yet (finals were today), but I'm assuming Tony didn't get picked for an alliance because his team had like, 4 wins and 3 losses or something. But, the Vex tournament (the past two days) went exceedingly well for him: his team was ranked 1st for a while, then finally ended up 3rd out of 100 teams. *\o/* Tony must've been sooo stressed, what with running from Vex to FRC and back all day. But things obviously turned out nicely, so I'm guessing it was worth it for him.
I'm actually glad I didn't fly down to Atlanta, because 1) I'm SO FUCKING BUSY, 2) I would've just been tagging along, and I probably wouldn't have been allowed into the pits, which is where all the fun stuff is anyway, 3) it might've created an awkward situation between me and Tony (or maybe not, I dunno). And actually, I didn't realize the tourmament was this weekend - I thought it was next weekend, and had no idea until Tony sent me a txt with his team ranking. Oops. And with all the stuff I've had to do, I managed to miss all of his runs all weekend. >.< Oh well, I'm sure he'll send me videos.
Today I went to a SIFF Volunteer Orientation, which was very fun, because each of the divisions were like recruiters and had, well basically, they had bribes to get people to volunteer with them lol. I signed up with ushering, because they said they really need ushers, main office, because it'll be like an overview of everything, and something that I can't remember the title of but is basically just the techie work, lol. And actually, when I was signing up with them, my mom mentioned that I interned at the theatre, and the lady' said, "Oh, do you know ___?" and I'm like, "uh... yeah, yeah, I know him." >.< Pretty sure she was talking about the same guy who didn't return my fucking phone call, but whatever.
Let's see. Over Easter weekend, I visited WSU, and I actually ran into someone that I know. O.O It's a very cool place, and there are definitely things that are very cool about it (which I can't remember at the moment, sorry), but the broadcasting program isn't exactly what I'm looking for. Still, it'll be a good "safe school" to apply to, because they also have tuition benifits and stuff for in-state people.
That same weekend, my sis had her dog trial, and she won a ton of stuff, and then she got the Junior Handler Best in Trial award or something like that, I dunno. Most of the time I was just bored out of my skull and waiting in the car with my ipod and a few textbooks, lol. And then I drove part of the way home, through the absolute middle of nowhere. I think my sis took some pictures or video or something, so I'll see about tracking those down and posting them.
Um... what else did I have news about? I don't remember now. Should'a posted back when it was relavant, huh? Oh oh oh! I dunno if this is what I was going to post about before, but whatever, at least it's something. The last two Media & Messages classes were very interesting, because it was a lot of my professor going on and on about how awesome Ian McKellan is. LOL We watched a few bits of Richard III, which was cool, but I didn't like how he kept making comments to the audience (called "breaking the fourth wall"). It kind of threw me out of it, y'know? Some people in the class liked that, some people didn't.
Oh, a random note, my professor ALWAYS wears the exact same thing, every single class: light lavendar button-down with a forrest green or navy blue pullover, and black jeans. ALWAYS. But then, this last class, he wore a DIFFERENT SHIRT. It was very weird. LOL I've had this same prof for two quarters and it's allllways the same, except for that day. Instead of his lavendar shirt, he had a tan shirt, and it was just... jarring, kind of. LOL Oh, and his fingernails look horrid. >.< I'm really not that obsessed with hands (although Dom's are, of course, lovely), but my prof stands about a foot and a half in front of me, so it's hard not to notice. lol
And last but not least, a meme snagged from a few people including
babybrothalova and
rebel_blue

eta: OKAY I REMEMBERED. At the SIFF thing today, I WON SOMETHING. I was all "OMG RLY?" LOL. I had a ticket taped under my chair, so I went up to the front desk and she pulls out this huge bag and is like "Oooh yay, here's some swag!" The contents: Turner Classic Movies SceneIt (OMG YAY, even though I already have the original SceneIt; my dad will love this one. also, I can't believe they're giving away SCENEIT! lol), a SIFF t-shirt (and omg, it's my size. O_O), a $3 Starbucks Gift Card (meh, whatever. I'll use it sometime, I guess.), and two MORE tickets to the Janus Film Festival (I already have a bunch from volunteering and going to that other swag thing.), oh, and also, a pen. LOL!
