silentdescant: (thinking)
[personal profile] silentdescant
basically what happens is this: Nick, a thief, doesn't know anything about his own personality (or even if he has one), because he's always hidden it from people. Through some central action, he finds out stuff about himself. For more info, see the Character Bio.

My treatment (detailed summary with no dialogue) so far:

We see NICK, late-20s, enter his apartment. He is wearing baggy jeans and an oversized t-shirt, a backpack slung over his shoulder. He looks like a he’s just out of his teens. We follow him through his apartment, which looks like a hotel room. The walls and windows are bare and plain and there are no visible personal items. This is a stark contrast to Nick’s wardrobe. He puts the backpack in the closet, where we see many different styles of clothes, ranging from business suits to plaid trousers and pink golf shirts.

The phone rings, and Nick hurries to answer. It’s SEAN, and Nick’s tone suggests that they’re friends. We hear Nick’s side of the conversation, telling Sean that he has the money and will be over tomorrow to drop it off.

The next day, Nick is dressed in a simple button-down shirt and jeans, very casual and very different from yesterday’s outfit. He takes the backpack out of his closet.

We see Sean, mid-30s, greet Nick at the front door of his house. He’s carrying a gun, but neither seem to mind. Nick hands over his backpack and Sean counts the money. Also inside the backpack is a stack of papers and passports, all with Nick’s picture, but with different names.

any ideas for that 'central discovery conflict'?
