YAY, Dazzle won that video contest! I dunno if any of you voted, but if you did, thank you!! My sister's making money left and right now. I'm a bit jealous, actually. She has marketable talents like photography and dog training and stuff like that, which is also good for these kinds of contests. Meanwhile, I.... go to school and write fanfic in my spare time. >.<

My other bit of news for the day is this: I think I'm going to go mostly friends-only. Gradually, though; I'm not just gonna suddenly disappear or anything. And fic and stuff will be left public, of course. I have a vague plan to switch journals as well, and use this one more for fan-ish stuff (which was my original intention with it anyway).

Also, Raquel and Megan and I watched Return of the King last night all together, which was so much fun to do. We should do that more often. And this is an general invite for anyone who wants to join us, if there's ever a movie on tv we all want to watch or something.

Also! My ipod won't turn off. >.< It's had this problem before, but this time, even the 'reset' isn't working. GAAH.
silentdescant: (dom/ian)
I rented Death at a Funeral and Wristcutters, and we watched Death at a Funeral tonight. OMG that movie makes me laugh. "Si?" "-mon!" hahahahahaha. and now? LOTR WEEKEND ON TNT!!! I love it when they do this. yay, Frodo's alive! and oh look, there's Bilbo with his book! I love these movies so much.

art today was interesting, and fun. we did a drapery study, and I actually managed to finish mine in one class. lol! next week we're doing... um, something involving newspaper, colored paper, and watercolor paper. I still need to think of something for that. we're supposed to start it during the week for homework.

I've got 3 songs to choose from for the senior recital. I can choose two, or just one. choices are 1) Neverland by Suzanne Ciani, 2) Chopin's Nocturne op. 72 no. 1, 3) Cristofori's Dream by David Lanz (which is apparently kinda famous, but I don't know it. it's pretty, though). my friend has played Neverland and the Nocturne, and those are both sooooo good. I think I'm leaning towards them. Neverland is so nice and flowy and soothing, and the Nocturn is kinda mysterious and sad and dramatic, so I think together they're exactly what I'm looking for. I looked for the song "Panic In Me" from the Road to El Dorado  soundtrack by Elton John, but the music book for that doesn't have that song listed! which is sad, because it would make such a good piano solo.

today in Sexualities we had to choose groups (of 3 people) for article presentation, and choose our articles. by the time the sign-up sheet got around to my group, the professional dominatrix article had already been chosen. lol! I've already read the articles and readings for that week, and it's gonna be interesting. hee!! although, the site the teacher recommends to learn about BDSM? I've seen better ones. LOL!
silentdescant: (to do list)
and so much stuff has happened! first of all, in TV land...

- The Office: Casino Night - OMG JIM. CRYING. LOVE. AWWWWWWW. ♥ SO MUCH.
- The Beatles' Help! movie - CRACKTASTIC. I think the best part was watching them mess around in the snow, LOL.
- the Monk and Psych holiday specials - were nothing really special. >.< but any new Psych is good, because it is adorable. :P

in the mail today came the movies Reign Over Me, which looked really good, so I can't wait to watch it, and THE FLYING SCOTSMAN. YAY!!! I also have Hairspray from the store, and that really has to go back, but I haven't watched it yet...

in school news, I got an A in Studio Production. as if I could've gotten anything else. and a B in math, which means I didn't do fantastically on the final, because before the final, I think my grade was about a B+... and I don't have my grade for Italian yet, but my grade prior to the exam is a 92.8, which is ALMOST an A, I think. I looked up the books I need for next quarter: Italian uses the same book I already have, which is very nice; Physics requires like, 4 different book/workbook/study guide things, booo; and the two books for Writing Fiction look AWESOME. can't wait to get those in my hands. :D

as I said a while ago, cute guy had something else going on and couldn't come to Sweeney Todd, but it's always fun when my dad and I see movies together, so I really wasn't too bummed. the movie was AWESOME. and the blood was very Tim Burton-ish: bright bright red, and therefore not very disgusting. there was a lot of it, though. but there was so much humor in the movie too, it was really cool. and then the costumes were awesome, and the singing was alright, and it was just soooo cool!! I do think the gothy makeup was overdone in a couple of scenes, though. but overall I liked it. I can't wait to see it again when it actually comes out. lol!!

currently, I'm rearranging furniture in the house. amazing how just rearranging a room makes it look so much cleaner. LOL of course, there's actual cleaning being done as well, much to my annoyance. :P my friend is coming over on Sunday night and staying until Monday to help us clean (she's getting paid to clean, btw. I wish I was getting paid. >.<) I think the grandparents are coming on Wednesday, which doesn't leave a whole lot of time... and then my dad's birthday is on Saturday next week, so that's when we're going to have the first big family dinner of the holidays, I think.

other randomness:
- I'm in chapter 4 of The Golden Compass, and so far I realllllly like it. hopefully I'll be able to finish it before I go see the movie.
- omgwtf coyote? there was a coyote in our backyard earlier today!! WTF? for reference, I live in the very densely populated suburbs. O.o
- ever since classes ended, I've been staying up extremely late at night and waking up extremely late in the morning. I dunno why. my body rebels against waking up early now. :P
- FotR last night = ♥. I don't know why I get so fangirly when the movies are on TV, seeing as I have them on extended edition DVD.... :P
- there's a part near the end of The Attack of the Unsinkable Rubber Ducks (which I finished recently and really enjoyed) that I agree with SO MUCH that I was literally saying "YES, EXACTLY!!" out loud as I listened. I don't want to spoil anyone or spark an argument or anything, so I'll just say that the passage pertains to religion and leave it at that.
- tony emailed me a photo of us from the weekend we first met. awww, we're so little! apparently we were 12, but we certaily don't look it from the picture. lol
- I started writing a Dom/Viggo ficlet a few days ago and it has since grown into something much more involved than I was planning. but there will still be porn, don't worry about that. *g*

a friend lists 7 of your interests that they are interesting in hearing you talk about. comment here if you want me to list 7 interests for you to discuss!

this list is from [livejournal.com profile] surreality_fan

lots of rambling under here )

***

I watched Pushing Daisies tonight, except I missed the first few minutes. It's beautifully shot, and I love the colors. It looks like a movie. And actually, I think it would probably work better as a movie than a show because I don't know how they're going to continue it and keep it fresh. Also, my sis and I recognized Jim Dale narrating right away because of all the Harry Potter audiobooks. :D That came as a surprise. Oh, and is this a half-hour show filling an hour timeslot? Because that was a hell of a lot of commercials. O.o

And I watched the newest House episode. spoilers )

To the classical music lovers - does anyone have Valse in A by Frederic Chopin and would be willing to upload? I've googled it but only found things I have to pay for, and I don't like paying for things. lol I'm about to start playing this song in piano.

And finally, I reviewed some SAT stuff today. I'm gonna fail. >.< ONLY TWO MORE DAYS. *headdesk*
silentdescant: (damn near poetic)
Just finished watching RotK. I'm always amazed by, well, first of all, the movie itself, and also the fact that it can bring me to tears every time I watch it. I don't think I'll ever get tired of these movies. At least, I sincerely hope not.

Go here. [profile] kiltsandlollieshas done a black & white LotR picspam and oh my god, just go and see, if you haven't already.

First off, thank you soooo much to whoever nominated one of my fics at the MOME Awards. !!! I hadn't even thought about awards or anything like that, so again, thank you very much for the nomination. It means quite a lot to me. :)

Well, I'm now back from vacation, but you wouldn't know it by my LJ activities, would you? So, a general sort of update about my trip (not in chronological order, mind you): SCAD was awesome and it's now my top choice of school (except it was hot, but even that wasn't as bad as I was expecting); Drexel was alright, but not exactly... right. *shrug*; spending time with my dad's extended family was fantastic (mom's side of the family was mostly-fun, but annoying and boring at times. >.<); spending time with Tony (and David) was really great fun, especially the fact that I got to be with them on my birthday and we could just hang out and go out to movies and play poker late into the night and stuff.

General update for back home: haven't unpacked yet; being on the east coast did NOT help jetlag-wise as it should have done, which is quite annoying, really, because I was hoping waking up early wouldn't be so hard now; already starting schoolwork, specifically, SAT prep and Geometry and anything else my mom wants to pile on; classes are starting entirely too soon in my opinion, even though I'm starting to look forward to them - I'm just not ready yet!

And finally, a note for today, I've finally finished reading Lord of the Rings. WOO. And then I watched the end of RotK from the scene right before "The Eagles are coming!" on to the end, and then I just had to watch some of the DVD extras. So yeah, I spent about 2 hours doing all that. But now it's all over and I can finally say I've finished the books. I loved how Merry was all heroic and 'take-charge' in The Scouring of the Shire. Very cool.

Anyway, that's all for now. I've had astoundingly little time to mess around on the computer and do some of the things that I said I would, which really sucks, but hopefully that'll change soon, once I get into more of a routine. I'm sloooowly catching up on some of the new fics or new chapters of fics that have been posted, which is fun, but I feel so behind. >.<

Also, Raquel, we had more luck of being online at the same times when I was on vacation than now!! I miss youuuu.
silentdescant: (so exciting omg)
feel free to just scroll on by. i just wanted to preserve this transcript for my own (and hopefully others') amusement.

a chat between me and my sister.

for reference, we're in the same room while doing this. LOL

also, lost spoilers for season 3 finale in there somewhere. also, i edited out names of RL people we talked about. also, this is really REALLY rapid-fire. and all the times i'm saying 'dude pay attention', she's doing other stuff on her computer besides chatting with me. lol! demanding, aren't i?

soooo, today. today was a bit of an adventure. as I said in an earlier post, I pretty much rolled out of bed into the car, lol. I alllllways forget about parking downtown. >.< so we went to Bellevue to redeem our secret movie passes and get our tickets and everything only to first discover that my dad doesn't know where Lincoln Center is (meaning we walked back and forth around Bellevue between one movie theater, the car, and another movie theater), and then (once at the right theater), we found out that SIFF's box office doesn't open in Bellevue until the 30th or something. which meant the whole mission was in vain! lol, by this time, we'd completely missed the secret movie, which really sucks, but the box office hours are made to screw us over apparently. so anyway, then we drove to downtown Seattle and found the box office there, only (again) we had to park like, a gazillion blocks away. then we waited in line for a while and finally got to the desk and got all our tickets and passes and vouchers and stuff. but then we had to decide on a movie, and there weren't many that I wanted to see today. >.< finally decided on the moon movie, but then had an issue of remembering where the hell the Neptune theater is. my dad got it confused with the Egyptian..... so we drive there, park quite a few blocks away, and wait in line for about 45 mins (in a drizzle! but luckily there was an awning, lol), then go inside and wait for another half an hour or so, but this time sitting down. lol.

so, 1) I'm very glad I decided not to wear heels. >.< I changed them for my normal shoes at the very last second. sooo glad I did. 2) I'm glad we saw the movie we saw, because it was awesome and the director was there too! 3) I'm now watching The Abyss, and it's reminding me of the Lost finale because of
spoilers )

so anyway, I'm gonna try to fix up my little ficlet in a few minutes, 'cause I've got a couple of ideas for it now.

ps: my most-used words: so, also, and anyway. >.<

pps: I misread a sign that said "habits for the home" and was like "omg I want a hobbit for the home." LOL I've seen so many lotr-type things like that today. "two towers" on a sign, and... well, now I can't remember, but there were others. lol
silentdescant: (thick as theives)
LotR is amazing. Can't really say a whole lot more than that at the moment because my mind is mush. But, we did end up watching the Dom/Elijah easter egg and both Fellowship of the Cast and A Day in the Life of a Hobbit, so that was pretty awesome. Especially since the person who stayed long enough to watch them both had never seen them before. lol!

I will admit to tearing up a bit at the end. Actual tears, unlike the dry-eyed kind of thing I did for Lost (I just couldn't cry!!). But though I got a bit misty at the Frodo/Sam "End of All Things" scene, I actually cried when Dom Merry started crying at the Grey Havens. Also, when Merry and Eowyn are about to go into battle in RotK? Dom has the exact same "staring death in the face" expression that he has in Lost. guh.

And now, a meme, because I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] babybrothalova. :D

Each player starts with eight random facts/habits about themselves.
People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules.
At the end of your blog, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names.

1. Sometimes adults that I've known all my life call me "Jenny-pop" because my dad made up the name "Jenny-popadopalos", and he used to call me "Jenny-pop" all the time. LOL!
2. I have been on a cruise to the Bahamas. 'Twas very fun. :D
3. I have two Return of the King posters, and neither of them have Billy or Dom on them. >.<
4. I've composed two songs, both of which are crap, and I'm still working (kind of on-and-off) on the ending to one of them.
5. I've never fired a gun, but I really really want to, at least once in my life. Although I did just have my first try at a BB gun on Friday, so that was cool. LOL
6. I have the bad habit of thinking everyone is an idiot, and I rarely change this opinion of people unless I'm proven wrong by the person in question. >.< For the record, I don't think you guys are idiots. *g* Just people in general.
7. I haven't seriously read Harry Potter fanfiction since I began reading LotR RPS. *facepalm* And there were some good WIPs I was reading, too! I'll have to get back to those....
8. 8 is my favorite number.

I tag...

wow, coming up with 8 people was harder than I thought it would be. >.< So, do the meme if you'd like, or just ignore it if you feel so inclined.
silentdescant: (Default)
somehow, I fit into a Junior size 11 and a t-shirt I wore in 3rd grade. I know I haven't lost any weight, but this just seems odd to me. How am I fitting into a Junior size?! I don't understand it! I've never worn Junior clothes!

in other news, I'm in the midst of whirlwind-cleaning the house, because the LotR lit class is coming over for NINE SOLID HOURS of LotR; extended editions of TTT and RotK. *\o/*

I was gonna post more about this at some other time, but during FotR two of my friends everyone was very giggly. >.< Hopefully that won't be the case (at least as much) today. Also, my dad's moved the big huge movie popcorn popper into the kitchen/living room area, so that should be fun. :D
silentdescant: (dominic heart)
I have a LotR book 6 test to take today and I'm only in chapter 1. >.< But anyway, it got me thinking about invisibility. This is such a random question omg. But pls to be humouring me?

Harry's Invisibility Cloak - This makes a ton of sense to me. It's a cloak that makes everything under it, no matter what it is, invisible. So, if you're too tall, your feet will show. If you pick up something and put it underneath, it too will be invisible. However, what about when it's just lying around? I don't get that. Shouldn't it be invisible all the time? Like, when Harry folds it up and puts it away and stuff?

The One Ring - This does not make sense to me at all. It makes the wearer invisible, right? But it also makes their clothes invisible, and stuff their holding (Frodo's sword, Sam's pack, etc.). But... it doesn't just make everything the invisible person touches invisible, does it? I mean, if Frodo picked up a rock while he was invisible, would it disappear too? And to further this, if the Ring turns everything the wearer touches invisible, why don't the floor of buildings and the rocks he climbs over disappear?

Personal Powers - This makes more sense, I think. Because usually it's just the person going invisible, not their clothes or things they touch. But this does have the problem of stripping down every time the person goes invisible. And I haven't seen Fantastic Four, but didn't the girl like, get a suit that went invisible too? or something? I wanna see that movie. and the sequel that's coming out soon. lol

So I guess my question is this: where does invisibility end? Is it just an arbitrary line drawn in the sand? "Everything up to this point can disappear, but nothing else"?

Therefore, a poll.

[Poll #986653]

DISCUSS.

ps: FotR tomorrow omgyay!! I don't know why I'm so excited, because I literally just watched it on TV, but YAY ANYWAY.

pps: I still have Charlie's Death Anthem (aka Run) on repeat. *sniff*

ok. so. I watched it. then I rewinded and watched all the Charlie bits. and Charlie's bits. LOL and then I came online and immediately started freaking out with [livejournal.com profile] bloodrayveness. and because I am lazy and it is 2:30am 3:30am (now) and I've already said most of what I'm going to say about Lost to her, I decided just to copy/paste the chat transcript. and I didn't fix our spelling errors, sorry. LOL and it is long. lol

there's also a bit of spoilers about Orli's Leno appearance, but srsly, nothing major.

WARNING: spoilers for Charlie's episode, "Greatest Hits", AS WELL AS talk of spoilers for the finale, "Through the Looking Glass".

also, this is seriously the first thing I said when I logged on. LOL

OH MY FUCKING GOD )

ALSO. we have decided that Snow Patrol's song Run is CHARLIE'S DEATH ANTHEM, OH MY GOD. I almost can't believe that after all of this stuff tonight, hearing that song is what made me break down.

and now, because I honestly COULDN'T DECIDE on what icon to upload/use for this post, here's a bunch of icons I was considering, each perfect in its own way. I finally decided on this one because omg, lookit Charlie all happy and glowy!

was about to reply to comments, but then realized i had to work on my essay some more. >.< so, will reply in person later, but for now, thank you for the "get well soon" type comments, they really cheered me up. ♥ :)

this is my predicament: i chose lotr to write an essay about. the assignment is to back up my opinion with facts and evidence. my opinion is pretty much that lotr is the best film(s) ever. so i wrote an essay and sent it to my mom for critique. and she says that i don't state my opinion at all, and that it's all straight facts, and that the essay has no personality or passion, and that if the class were a journalism class instead of a personal essay class, i'd get an A because i'm so succient and objective. >.< so that is one part of my problem. the other part is this: how do i write about lotr without getting TOO gushy and fangirlish about it? and without saying words like "fantastic", "stunning", and "awe-inspiring", etc. too much?

random note: today in the paper, there was a blurb about Lost's end date, which (of course) made me think of Dominic. right next to it was a blurb about PJ directing some movie that he and Fran and Phillipa wrote the screenplay for, which (of course) also made me think of Dom. there's no point to this little anecdote other than the fact that i found it amusing that they were right next to each other. lol i am easily amused.

a more completely random note: those Soup At Hand microwavable thingies are yummy and portable, and i want to take one to school with me the next time i'm on campus but not in class.

there are so many things i keep meaning to post about, but then i don't, because i just want to make this quick, but then i never get back to it and then it's so long afterward that i think "is it even worth it to post" and then i end up not posting, so then i have either no posts at all or a whole bunch of these meaningless type ones. and omg that was all one sentence. sorry. >.< i didn't mean to make this post so long, but it's just coming out that way. >.<

test updates: SAT2 went well, i think. it felt like i did okay. afterwards was a bruch which was good but also kinda too much, and then a meeting with the director and DoP, which was supposed to happen at a Starbucks but didn't at the last minute, and i was kinda counting on a drink to keep me from coughing the entire time, but anyway, the meeting went well. it's kinda weird though, the DoP kept like, looking at me, and it seemed like he was like... trying to reassure himself that i was laughing at his jokes? or something? dunno. that's what it seemed like, though. and he did it again tonight. or maybe he's just a weird, kinda creepy guy. >.<

and now, back to rewriting my essay. "again, with feeling."

fucking hell, i HATE lj's rich text editor. when i edited my index, HALF THE LINKS DISAPPEARED. *kicks omg* i should'a just continued editing in html. but it's so hard! what the fuck, lj? what the bleeding fuck? will fix later. omg, after i cleaned everything up, too! GRRRR.

in other news, i'm watching FotR at the moment. *spazms of love omg* srsly, LotR is mesmerizing. so pretty omg. ooh, commercial's over. ooooh, Beanie [in Rivendell]!! guh.
silentdescant: (monaboyd love)
The question I had earlier about the song used in the Lost promos? The answer is Lux Aeterna, from Requiem for a Dream. Now, the interesting bit is that this song was remixed exclusively for a LotR TTT trailer, but the version was never used in either LotR or RfaD. The really awesome bit is this music video, though, which is just amazing. Really really amazing. There were some other LotR music videos to this song, but of the ones I watched, this was definitely the best.

And how cool is it that the song was used for both LotR and Lost? Extremely cool.

eta: I also have the piano sheets for the normal version of the song. I haven't tried to play it yet, but there are videos on youtube of these sheets being played and it sounds pretty good. [page 1] [page 2]

today my grades for this quarter will be available, but apparently 24 minutes after the day has officially started is not long enough for the college to get all the grades out or something. either that or too many people are trying to access their grades at once. stupid busy server. >.< not really worried, as i'm almost positive my grades will be A's to A-'s, but still, i wanna know for sure.

ps: i think this song ('the black gate opens') is my favorite of all the lotr CDs. even up against 'steward of gondor' and 'into the west' and 'gollum's song'. but then, 'isengard unleashed' is also good... ah, fuck it. i love 'em all.
