dinner theatre, and a mini rant
Dec. 21st, 2006 12:09 amDinner was good. Friend got some kind of meat (I dunno what it was), which was alright, but my meal was better; cheese tortellini with cheese sauce and probably a bit more cheese somewhere in there. *g* The preshow was pretty sucky. And when the play (Miracle on 34th Street) started, the acting didn't get a whole lot better. >.< Most of the people sucked. There were a few that stood out, though; the bad guy psychiatrist was pretty good, not amazing, but good, and the woman who played the main character was alright. They all had good singing voices, so it's a pity it wasn't a musical. The kids were a bit annoying, but that's pretty much what I expected of them. :\ Dessert was good also, cinnamon apple pie a la mode. But then Act II started and it kinda went downhill again.
The good: food, the costumes. Seriously, the costumes were awesome.
The bad: the acting, the sets (bleh...), the lighting (which I will forgive, because this place is old and the instruments were crap, but even so, they could've been focused so much better), and the SOUND OMG.
The sound. Oh, I wanted to strangle the sound guy. Then commandeer the soundboard, because holy shit, it was so awful. It was distracting the entire time. The main girl's mic kept fuzzing out and every now and then there would be feedback, probably from the actors standing too close to each other or something. And it was like the guy couldn't control it! I mean, come on! What the hell kind of soundboard does he have? It has to have equalizers and shit to FIX these problems. I'm convinced I could've done better. And anyway, this place was small, the actors shouldn't have NEEDED mics. It's called projecting your voice, morons.
So then my friend came back to my house for a bit and I showed her a few pics. And she thinks everybody's gay. Which I would agree with, except for the tone she used. *KICKS OMG* And I had to swiftly scroll past the boykissing and gay porn pics. >.< Also, I think she was a bit freaked out by the fact that my Dom folder had 5800+ pics. I guess she just doesn't understand obsession. *giggles*
Oh, and this one guy kept making eye contact with me. It was fun at first, because the guy was kinda cute, but after a while it got awkward. >.<
And one more thing; it seems our co-op is going to put on a play. :D I suggested Midsummer Night's Dream because I have a simplified version of it somewhere. That'll hopefully happen soon, but probably not until after biology ends. :( But I think we're going to do skits or something anyway, because pretty much everyone in the co-op is at least a bit dramatic (or hysterical...).
