Chapter Title: Prepare
Chapter Summary: Slight fashback to what Dom's been doing to prepare for his new life.
Dom bought a used duffel bag and a new (old) wardrobe from Goodwill in Hawaii. There were some things he couldn’t part with, however, such as the scarf he wore to the Return of the King Berlin premiere and the leather wrist cuffs. His rings and necklaces he also kept, along with his dark green knitted scarf, one pair of jeans, and a beat-up leather jacket. The rest was new (old) and none of it drew the attention his old clothes did.
Next was the airport. He bought a round trip ticket for Viggo and a one-way for himself. The last stop was the supermarket. Dom picked up a box of crackers, a few high-protein energy bars, a six-pack of beer and sleeping pills. Before he checked out, he spied the hair dye and grabbed a box of that too. He paid cash for everything.
At home, he started a box of things for Viggo. He already had the instructions and letters written out. Dom dumped out the pills and put the empty box with the supplies. He found three empty beer bottles from the past week and added those. Then Dom pulled out a bit of his hair, wincing and the pain. Last was the blood; he found a needle in his first-aid kit and drew a fair amount before he started feeling faint. He put a plaster on the wound and double-checked the contents of the box before taping it up.
The next morning, Dom dyed his hair a color that ended up being close to his natural brown. He fed his pets, giving them a heartfelt goodbye, and left a note for Jorge, who would come on Monday. Then he put all his new belongings into the duffel bag and emptied his wallet of credit cards, driver’s license, short notes, and anything with his name on it. He left the photo of himself and Billy in, though, for old time’s sake.
Dom caught a bus to an electronics store and paid cash for a new cell phone. He jotted down the number on Viggo’s letter and posted the box. The next stop was his bank. He withdrew one thousand dollars and had the rest wired to Future Forests. Then, another bus took him to the airport, to the flight that would take him to a new country where he would start his new life as Nick Bernard.
