Chapter Title: New
Chapter Summary: Dom starts his new life
A/N: He's in Germany now, so pretend it's all in German. *g*

Dom bought a local paper and scanned the apartment listings. With such little money, most of the flats were too expensive. He resigned himself to checking out even the bad ones and started walking in that direction. On his way, he passed a small theatre, advertising a play he’d never heard of. He eyed the slightly crumbling doors and stepped inside.

“Can I help you?” a voice called out from above the door.

“Hi. I’m new in town. I just wanted to check it out,” Dom said nervously, looking around for the source of the voice. Just then, a man stepped down from a tall ladder.

“Well, I can answer any of your questions. I work here. I’m Hans,” the man held out his hand, and Dom shook it with a smile.

“Your last name wouldn’t be Jensen, would it?” Dom asked teasingly, thinking of Elijah.

“No, it’s Meyer. Why do you ask?”

“An old friend. You’re obviously not him, though.”

“So, you said you’re new here. Are you into plays, concerts, performing…” Hans trailed off.

“Actually, I’m an actor.” The words slipped out before Dom had a chance to think. He cursed silently and grimaced. “Was an actor. I expect I’ll need a real job now though.”

“A real job? I happen to be an actor myself. It’s enough to make a living off of. Of course, I help out around here: carpentry and set building. If you’d like, I could give you a tour. Maybe you could come by for an audition sometime.”

“I’d like that, thank you.”

“It’s not much, and not in a very prime position for patrons, but it’s nice. I’ve gotten a few jobs at the bigger theatre downtown as well. So, what’s your name?”

“Dom. Inic. Nick, really. Nick Bernard.”

“Nick Bernard. Are you German? Your accent is… hard to place.”

“I grew up in Germany, then moved to England in my teens. I’m afraid my German is a bit rusty. Haven’t been back in a while.”

“What made you come back?”

“I decided to start fresh. New city, new life. I’m looking for a flat, actually. D’you know if anywhere around here is available?

“You are in luck, my friend. My roommate just moved on to bigger things. I have an extra bedroom I’m trying to rent out, if you want a look.”

“Hans, this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship.”
