First tonight, I watched The Producers.
I knew going in that I wasn’t going to like it. I did manage to last through the second song, however. The singing was okay, the dancing was alright, but I could barely stomach the movie overall. Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane were acting as though they were on stage, which really doesn’t work for film. After the second song, by which point I was already disinterested and annoyed with both characters (Broderick’s especially), Will Farrell appeared and I just turned it off. There’s no way it could have gotten any better; the only direction for this film to go was down.
I don't feel very comfortable rating it because I didn't watch the whole thing, but for the (small) part I watched, I give it one star (for the singing).
Also, I own Nacho Libre, but have only watched a small part of it.
There are some things I just don't want to see. Ever. Jack Black, shirtless and in too-small sweatpants, running in slow motion towards the camera is one of these things. Another of these things? This movie. Sheer stupidity that I honestly can't stand.
Zero stars for the parts I watched.
I shudder to think what Napoleon Dynamite is like. I have no desire to see it other than to mock it and my friends mercilessly.
