WOOOO!!! Tony fucking WON the FIRST regional competition in GA!!! His team's going to nationals!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm now debating whether or not I should fly down there to cheer/see him. I'd totally do it, except for the fact that I haven't been involved in robotics at all this year, and I don't even know the challenge. Plus, would that be awkward, if it's just me?

From what I hear, this is what happened: his team wasn't the top 14 or whatever, so couldn't choose alliences, and had to wait to be chosen (if they were going to be chosen at all). But they weren't chosen, and this is where it gets interesting. They were the top team on the list that wasn't chosen. Tony's mom went out to lunch, while Tony stayed because he just wanted to see the rest of the competition. (I'm getting my info from his mom, so I know her side of the story.) So during lunch, she gets a call from him, saying he was picked!!! Apparently one of the chosen robots broke, and the allience leader had to pick a new team to join them, and since his team (called Soup, for some random reason) was top on the list, they were chosen!!! They then proceeded to not lose a single match. OMG THEY'RE GOING TO NATIONALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been to nationals before (not as a team, just as a spectator/demonstrator), and it's SO EXCITING. But, should I go? I could watch it online on the NASA webcast, but.... I just don't know. And I have to decide soon. >.<

ps: this was like, yesterday early afternoon when I found out, so the excitement has worn off a bit for me, but STILL. OMG!

In other news, my last final is on Monday (tomorrow), and then I'll be free from this quarter!!! Unfortunately, biology won't stop. >.< And I still have to make DVD covers for 10 Odd Couple DVDs and 4 Grace & Glorie DVDs. And then send them. And I've already been paid for the 4. *hides*

In movie news, I watched like, 200 movies in these past couple of days. Spoilers beneath the cuts. Nothing major, though.

Run, Lola, Run - I watched this like, a LONG time ago (well, not LONG, but long enough), so I'll keep this short. By the second time around, I was already thinking "bloody hell, not again!" Not the best movie in the world. Oh well.

The Guru - I watched this at the same time as Run, Lola, Run. Don't really remember much now, but it was cute. One of those predictable, cheesy, fluffy type movies. Not horrible, but not good either.

The Illusionist - OMG AWESOME. I want to buy this one, seriously. First of all, the cinematography was spectacular. Most of the shots had this old feel, and the lighting was a bit sparse and just beautiful. Not to mention the actual story! Well... Even though the end was supposed to be a huge plot twist, I could totally see it coming. Because I've just watched too many plot-twister movies. Seriously, though, Edward Norton was AWESOME, and Paul Giamatti was ALSO AWESOME, and the whole movie was just great. I didn't much care for the girl, though, but she played her part well, so I can't complain.

Munich - ERIC BANA!!! *giggles* I always think of him as the pyromaniac in legomyarrow's The Archer fic. This was good, but a bit too political for my taste. The best part in my opinion was when he was overcome by paranoia and ended up sleeping in the closet. That bombmaker though, he was just incompetant and I wanted to hit him. Oh, plus: James Bond (I mean, Daniel Craig) was kinda funny in this.

How To Eat Fried Worms - can I just say that I've completely grown out of bad kiddie movies? In the book, wasn't it the main kid's idea to put all this stuff on the worms to make them taste better? In the movie, it was the opposite; the bully tried to make them taste awful. This movie was just... kinda bad all around. The one good part for me was the kid from Freaky Friday, because he seemed like the best actor of the bunch.

Vanity Fair - This was really good. At least, I thought so. But then, I do like movies like Emma, Sense & Sensability and sometimes Pride & Predjudice. But this was good. I loved Becky, and I loved how Reese Witherspoon played her. My favorite scene, though, was the Indian dance, when she wore that cool black outfit. So yeah, this was good. I wouldn't say spectacular, but I wouldn't mind watching it again, if it ever came up.

(saving the best for last) On A Clear Day - which I also watched a while back, just haven't reviewed until now. Okay, where to start? I LOVED this. And not just because Billy was in it. I really loved the story, and the tension between father and son, and the dynamics of the little group of friends. I ADORED Danny, Billy's character, and oh my god, the near-death scene was just... amazing. I'll admit that was partly because it was BILLY and he was being saved from DROWNING, but still, I just loved it. And the sad hospital scene afterward. *sniff* This is another movie I'd like to own.

Also, I just watched Casino Royale for the second time - I still think the intro's the best part, with the animations and stuff. I think this is my favorite Bond song to date too. You can just tell that the graphics people had fun with it, y'know? I want to kill Blockbuster, though, because it kept skipping and hanging up right in the middle of the movie. >.<

And, I watched Sahara for the second time - I have read some of the Clive Cussler Dirk Pitt novels (after I saw the movie), but I don't think I've read Sahara. Anyway, I think I actually like the movie better, in some respects, because they're so much funnier, yet still not a comedy movie. The books sometimes got tedious, and I kept wishing for Al Giordino (the sidekick, essentially) to have some of his film-version's humor to break it up.

Movies that I have from Blockbuster, just haven't watched yet: Shooting Livien (OMG, I CAN'T WAIT, even though it'll probably be a crap film.), Man of the Year (meh. not my choice from the video store, but whatever.) and I think The Purifiers is on it's way. \o/ Plus, I'm DVR-ing Wimbledon and Day After Tomorrow, both of which I've seen before.

Also also, The Riches: Eddie's accent is crap, but I love him for it. *giggles* I think the daughter (DiDi?) is adorable, in the grown-up, sexy teenager kind of way). I like the start to this.
