*dancing queen*

I just got home from my first ever dance. OMG, IT WAS SO AWESOME.
When I first got there, there was a big group of mostly Asian guys, and NOBODY else. It felt very strange to be there. It was dark with flashy colored lights waving around and fucking LOUD music. As time went on, more people came, but still only three people were dancing. The DJ got a few people started on a congo line and it spiraled around the dance floor and when it broke up, everyone just stayed there. It was awesome. And I was dancing about three steps away from the stage where the DJ was, and since nobody was dancing with me and I was kinda unsure of myself, I was watching the DJ. I saw him get out a handful of glowstick bracelets and he started saying "The first ten..." and I was already there... "people who get up here will get glowsticks!" So I got the first one. :D
It took a while for me to start dancing, actually. I, dressed up as Ginny Weasley, was hanging out with my friend Monica, who was the ice queen of Narnia, and her friend Emily (that might not be rigt, it was damn loud), and I dunno what she was dressed up as. O.o She looked normal. Anyway, this guy came to sit at our table and he was kinda cute. His name may or may not have been Aria. Or something to that effect. Which is a strange name for a guy, but whatever. And he can do an awesome Johnny Depp impression. (he took us into an empty room where it was quiet)
Once I started dancing, I barely stopped. There was a lot of techno music and there were actually songs I knew, so that was doubly cool. For a while, I was really nervous. There wasn't really anybody amazing there yet though. OH, and I saw the annoying Know-It-All-guy!!!! He was dressed in a klit, with a Native American Indian girlfriend with lots of colored feathers. They were pretty energetic, but he was so funny to watch. Anyway. Not many hot guys. About two total, and only one of them was dancing. There were a few really sexy girls though. *whistles*
One girl looked like she was dressed up as Elizabeth Swan in the second POTC, with a pirate coat and sword and a really sexy red corset type thing. And really nice high-heeled boots. She even looked kinda like Kiera Knightly. She was... really sexy. The entire time. Yeah. Another girl had a really strange costume, but she could move. She was also really sexy. lol! Her boyfriend was one of the breakdancer dudes, which I'll talk about later. The other really hot girl looked just like Jessica Alba in Fantastic Four. (which I haven't seen, btw. I'm just going off the promo pics...) Her costume was officially a cop, but she looked just like Jessica Alba. Even her face.
The guys: one hot guy looked a bit like Seth Green; he was dressed up as a Ninja, but he was one of the breakdancer dudes and eventually he got too hot and had to take off his mask and drapey shirt thing. He was the only really hot guy to speak of on the dance floor. Anyway, the breakdancer dude story: the DJ would occasionally have a contest-type thing and there were about three really good breakdancer guys. One was Ninja, another was Green-Shirt guy (he didn't really have a costume), and the other was strange-costume!Girl's boyfriend. I've never seen breakdancing in person, that close up before. It was awesome. Oh, and the strange-costume!Girl was also semi-breakdancing, and she was teh sex. O.O And all the breakdancer dudes (and dudette), did their Michael Jackson impressions to the Thriller song and that was awesome.
I mostly hung out with Monica and Emily on the dance floor, but I was also kinda alone in the crowd, if you know what I mean. Nobody really danced "with me" until nearer to the end. But after Monica and Emily left, I really let loose. (not that I hadn't before, but without them there, I was a bit less self-conscious) One guy danced near me for a while, and that was really nice, but I wouldn't quite say he was dancing "with" me. Then, the floor cleared out a bit and this witch with an awesome black dress and greenish facepaint and a pointy hat were left in the space. We really danced together and that was amazing. She had some better moves than me, but we did stuff and copied each other and got really close and everything. No grinding though. Earlier there had been some chains of people grinding together. There was one group of girls (about five or six) that kept grinding together and that was fun to watch.
There was a costume contest near the end. A group of people came together as "fast food" people. There was Jack in the Box, who had one of those huge Chinese lantern things over his head with colored plastic for the facial features. He won funniest costume, by the way. And with him was the Hamburgler, Ronald McDonald (who was actually a girl), the KFC captian dude with a cane, and a couple other lesser-quality costumes. There were a lot of pirates and angels and devils. The "best in show" costume was a sexy Naughty Cop girl, with a nightstick, handcuffs, a cute cap, and a skintight suit. *g*
The music was so fucking loud. My ears still feel a bit clogged up. >.< And my feet hurt SO BAD. My advice: never wear your younger sister's very uncomfortable high-heeled shoes to dance in. My toes feel like they're about to fall off. I should've just worn my boots.... But then my heels would be hurting worse. I should've just worn sneakers or something, 'cause the floor was slightly slippery.
Anyway, the music. There were quite a few songs I knew, and some that I didn't but still liked, and some that I didn't really like at all. I actually went up to the DJ and requested a song (I'm Blue by Eiffle 65), but I couldn't stay long enough to hear him play it.
The food: there really wasn't much. I ate a few tortilla chips and a handful of cheetos and a cookie, and that was IT. Even after I thought I worked up an appetite. I stuck to the punch, which was really good and gave me that sugar-kick I needed to keep dancing.
It was dark but flashy, loud, and I didn't know anyone, and I fucking LOVED it. I can't believe I danced as much as I did. If you've seen the fourth Harry Potter movie, where Hermione comes off the dance floor and spins around, that's what I feel like. Kinda delerious.
I left my purse on a table with a few other purses and I'm so glad it didn't get stolen or anything. This crowd didn't really seem the type to do that, though. When I finally got my purse back, my dad had called 11 times saying he was waiting to pick me up. Oops. Then in the car I was bouncy and I switched the radio to a techno station. And now I'm listening to my Dance playlist.
I got so hot and that floor, but it was awesome. And I loved being in the middle of everyone. People didn't really "touch" a lot, but they were close enough around that I could feel everyone there. I had to wipe off my forehead with a napkin and my hair's all stringy now from sweating so much. I can't believe I stayed out there that long. And when I first got there, I thought I was going to want to leave in a hour. Instead, I stayed until half an hour before the dance finished. lol!
I think I'm going to sleep pretty hard tonight. And my feet will be killing me in the morning. >.< But now I really want to write a Monaboyd dance-club fic. Now that I actually have an experience to draw from. :D But my original story, Slow Motion, actually came pretty close to the real thing, and I'd never done anything like this before. *sigh* I feel good. Now I'm going to sleep like the dead and when I wake up, I will write. I'll write RunAway and a new dance fic. And maybe even my Merry/Pippin story. *twirls away* I still love that I danced with that Witch. :D Awesomeness.
