I watched Pushing Daisies tonight, except I missed the first few minutes. It's beautifully shot, and I love the colors. It looks like a movie. And actually, I think it would probably work better as a movie than a show because I don't know how they're going to continue it and keep it fresh. Also, my sis and I recognized Jim Dale narrating right away because of all the Harry Potter audiobooks. :D That came as a surprise. Oh, and is this a half-hour show filling an hour timeslot? Because that was a hell of a lot of commercials. O.o
And I watched the newest House episode. ( spoilers )
To the classical music lovers - does anyone have Valse in A by Frederic Chopin and would be willing to upload? I've googled it but only found things I have to pay for, and I don't like paying for things. lol I'm about to start playing this song in piano.
And finally, I reviewed some SAT stuff today. I'm gonna fail. >.< ONLY TWO MORE DAYS. *headdesk*

Oct. 1st, 2007 06:54 pmwow, it feels like I haven't posted in forever, even though it wasn't that long ago.
1. Tiffany gave me a very pretty silver and peridot bracelet for my birthday. :)
2. There's a guy called Jens in my studio production class that is awesome and funny. We chatted for a while when we both had to be on-camera, pretending to interview each other, and then later, he directed while I was tech director, and we kinda clicked and did really well (better than pretty much all of the other pairs), which was totally awesome. There's also a deaf girl in the class, and she has two interpreters with her, a guy and a girl. The guy's hands remind me vividly of Dominic's, and he wears a couple rings too. :P It made me wonder if Dom's ever tried sign language. I imagine he'd be good at it, what with all his gesturing and constant movement when he talks.
3. Over half the people in that class have first names starting with J. LOL
4. My room is now about 90% clean. There's still a load of crap on all available flat surfaces, but the floor is clear and I took out a lot of old books to make room for new ones. It just needs to be vacuumed and nit-picked, now. It's so much nicer this way. Although, I must admit, the other night when I was lying in bed, I couldn't get to sleep because the curtain thing on my bed wasn't hanging the same way it was before. How OCD is that? >.< I ended up getting out of bed anyway for something else so I fixed it before I went back. LOL
5. The library booksale was a success! (even though I didn't find any of the specific things I was looking for, but I wasn't really expecting to, so that's okay.) I took home about 10+ books, including one book of poetry and Macbeth. Or maybe I put Macbeth back... I don't remember. Anyway, I've already finished one of the other books, called The Assistants, and OMG IT WAS AWESOME. If you're at all connected to or interested in Hollywood or show business, you should read it. On the back cover, it said "laugh out loud funny" and I don't tend to believe that kind of thing, but it was so true. Also, Griffin is the most awesome character ever, and I love that name. :P
6. Classes have been going well, or just going. I had a math quiz today, but it was pretty easy and I'm almost positive I aced it. (There was only one page of questions, though). Also, the math teacher has a really cute ass. What? I sit on the front row, and he's always turned around writing on the whiteboard. I can't help but notice. *giggles*
7. I'm taking the SAT (again!!) next weekend. Apparently. I did not know this before two days ago. If I bring up my score by like.. 60 points or something, I'll qualify for another 5k in scholarships (I think). PRESSURE, ANYONE? dammit.
8. I'm suddenly nervous about a lot of things. Posting a fic tomorrow, my looming Italian quiz, the SAT on Saturday, finishing my SCAD essay, and finding a focus for my portfolio. fuck. And I also hate it (well, okay, I don't hate it, because I love most of what I write) that my best writing is fanfic and I can't show it to anyone outside of fandom. How am I supposed to prove that I actually can write if I never write anything for academic eyes?

a few random thoughts
Sep. 27th, 2007 04:21 pm1. Today, on the way to school, I was nattering on about something (my mom was driving), and suddenly I said "GOLLUM!" The car in front of us had the license plate "GOLLUM" and the thing that goes around the license plate (I dunno what it's called) had the end of the ring poem, "one ring to bring them all / and in the darkness bind them." hahaha, my mom said "Oh look, there's another LotR fan." :P
2. I dislike the subject of slavery. I don't hate it, at least not as much anymore, but I really don't like it. I mean, of course I don't like slavery, but I don't even like the topic of it, intellectually. Religion, on the other hand, I have some interest in. I'm not very religious myself, but I find the subject very intriguing. So, what do I do? I start writing a fic about slavery. *headdesk* I do have one in progress about religion too, though. lol
3. Math class. Precalculus. Trigonometry. So far, it's not been anything too difficult, and the instructor is nice and young and he explains things pretty well (even though I still had to ask my dad for help understanding my homework). I'm worried that it's going to get hard really fast, though. >.< I hate five-day-a-week classes.
4. Italian. The teacher (professeressa) loves my last name (which is Italian). She talks in Italian a lot, though. More than I expected for the first week of classes. And she doesn't explain everything she's saying, which is a bit stressful. So far, I've memorized the Italian alphabet, though, which is good, and my almost-two years of Latin are definitely helping.
5. Apparently I never posted about this! My mom kind of found out about my slashy online activities. I played it down, though, (okay, I lied) and admitted to very tame versions of what I actual read/write. Obviously I couldn't deny anything as she'd seen something, but apparently it wasn't anything too porny, so while it wasn't a good thing that she found out, at least I know that it could've been very much worse. And at least this way she knows something so I don't have to be quite as paranoid. LOL
6. The Incline of Trees (aka: lotruni) has been updated!!!!!!! omgomgomg GO AND READ. *incoherent flailing*
7. Next week, I think, I will begin posting something that I half want to keep as a surprise and half want to shout out to everyone. I'm very excited about it. :D

I didn't bring my sketchbook, but today I tried to draw it in my notebook (so there's lines all through it, but oh well). It's not the greatest picture in the world, and it doesn't quite match up to the image in my head, but I'm pretty proud of it considering I didn't use any reference pics. \o/ I usually can't draw anything without at least something to copy from.

so okay, that rant the other day? all most is better now. and Cute Guy showed up today! apparently he's been sick AND his car broke down. *pets him* *no really, because his hair is just lovely* as is his chest hair omfg also, the evil french producer girl has seemed to lighten up a bit and she's not as annoying about the storyboards though she still is speaking french a lot... and because I won't be available on the first day of shooting until the afternoon, I had to give over my duties to the french PA girl, who is very cute and reminds me of Claire on Lost. except, y'know, french. anyway, besides the whole language difference thing (quite a few "sorry? what was that?" in our conversation, LOL), she seems very sharp and she caught on quickly, so should be able to manage fine without me for half a day. and I didn't really get a chance to talk to the director, but he seemed very laid back today, so I'm guessing he's handling everything he's supposed to. and I kind of avoided the annoying DoP. hopefully the director and the producer will get on him for doing storyboards omg. I did complain to BOTH of them, so. *hopes* ALSO, nobody turned up for the auditions yesterday! so we're having auditions again next week or something, and the producer wants me to come, so yay. kind of. lol. it'll be interesting, to say the least.

May. 21st, 2007 12:49 amLotR is amazing. Can't really say a whole lot more than that at the moment because my mind is mush. But, we did end up watching the Dom/Elijah easter egg and both Fellowship of the Cast and A Day in the Life of a Hobbit, so that was pretty awesome. Especially since the person who stayed long enough to watch them both had never seen them before. lol!
I will admit to tearing up a bit at the end. Actual tears, unlike the dry-eyed kind of thing I did for Lost (I just couldn't cry!!). But though I got a bit misty at the Frodo/Sam "End of All Things" scene, I actually cried whenDom Merry started crying at the Grey Havens. Also, when Merry and Eowyn are about to go into battle in RotK? Dom has the exact same "staring death in the face" expression that he has in Lost. guh.

today was very blah. wore pjs to co-op, which was nice. been doing it a couple of times, ever since we had a "pj day" but i can't do it all the time because i hafta go straight from there to class on campus which means i actually hafta be dressed. anyways. today was a nice day so we were studying outside on the trampoline for a while, which was cool. haven't been out on the trampoline in like, a year or something. used to do it every friday... anyway. oooh, i have a trampoline icon. *uses* lol
wrote a bit more of that as-yet-untitled church fic. was gonna see about making a banner manip for it, but (on my first quick glance through my pics) i couldn't find any of dom where he looks grown up and serious and stuff. so if you guys know of any pics like that, let me know, okay? :)

a post of randomness

this is my predicament: i chose lotr to write an essay about. the assignment is to back up my opinion with facts and evidence. my opinion is pretty much that lotr is the best film(s) ever. so i wrote an essay and sent it to my mom for critique. and she says that i don't state my opinion at all, and that it's all straight facts, and that the essay has no personality or passion, and that if the class were a journalism class instead of a personal essay class, i'd get an A because i'm so succient and objective. >.< so that is one part of my problem. the other part is this: how do i write about lotr without getting TOO gushy and fangirlish about it? and without saying words like "fantastic", "stunning", and "awe-inspiring", etc. too much?
random note: today in the paper, there was a blurb about Lost's end date, which (of course) made me think of Dominic. right next to it was a blurb about PJ directing some movie that he and Fran and Phillipa wrote the screenplay for, which (of course) also made me think of Dom. there's no point to this little anecdote other than the fact that i found it amusing that they were right next to each other. lol i am easily amused.
a more completely random note: those Soup At Hand microwavable thingies are yummy and portable, and i want to take one to school with me the next time i'm on campus but not in class.
there are so many things i keep meaning to post about, but then i don't, because i just want to make this quick, but then i never get back to it and then it's so long afterward that i think "is it even worth it to post" and then i end up not posting, so then i have either no posts at all or a whole bunch of these meaningless type ones. and omg that was all one sentence. sorry. >.< i didn't mean to make this post so long, but it's just coming out that way. >.<
test updates: SAT2 went well, i think. it felt like i did okay. afterwards was a bruch which was good but also kinda too much, and then a meeting with the director and DoP, which was supposed to happen at a Starbucks but didn't at the last minute, and i was kinda counting on a drink to keep me from coughing the entire time, but anyway, the meeting went well. it's kinda weird though, the DoP kept like, looking at me, and it seemed like he was like... trying to reassure himself that i was laughing at his jokes? or something? dunno. that's what it seemed like, though. and he did it again tonight. or maybe he's just a weird, kinda creepy guy. >.<
and now, back to rewriting my essay. "again, with feeling."

May. 6th, 2007 03:10 pmam sick. sneezing, coughing, and what feels like a fever. blahhhh. haven't been replying to comments, and i'm sorry about that. i keep meaning too, but there's just too many to deal with at the moment.
test went well. think i did alright. now i just have about 3 other tests coming up, and my brain isn't working at the moment. and i keep misspelling simple things like 'brain' omg. eta: omg i cannot spell at all.
i hate life. i want to sleep, i want to breathe without having a coughing fit, and i want my nose to stop running. and i want this quarter to be over. i want school to be over, which isn't like me. i like school, usually. i want to go to sleep and not wake up for about a week -- or more, whatever--, and not have to worry about all this fucking crap when i do wake up. and i want some bloody tea that doesn't taste like liquid sugar. i wanna just give up for a while.
and not even Dom is making me happy right now, because he's not fucking the same, and i want the old Dom back, and i want him to get the fuck away from LA. no offence to those that live there (if there are any of you), sorry.
